Does It Cost Me to Place My Baby Up for Adoption?

Will It cost Me to Give My Baby Up for Adoption?

Will making an adoption plan cost me money?

No, making an adoption plan or placing a baby for adoption will not cost you anything. Adoption Advocates offers all services for expectant parents free of cost – including counseling and legal fees. We can also help you apply for pregnancy Medicaid, so you don’t have to worry about medical care costs related to your pregnancy.

Can I get paid for placing my baby for adoption?

No. It is illegal in Texas – and everywhere in the United States – for expectant/birth parents to receive payment for making an adoption plan or placing a baby for adoption.

However, if you are struggling financially, we may be able to help. As a licensed adoption agency in Austin, we can provide financial assistance for maternity-related needs during your pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after. Expenses we can help with include:

  • rent or housing costs
  • utilities
  • groceries
  • phone bill
  • maternity clothing

When you meet with your adoption specialist, you and she will discuss your financial situation to see how much assistance we can provide.  It is important to know that any assistance you receive from an agency does not have to be paid back if you decide to parent.
